Country/Cowboy & Western

Some folks wonder what happened to country music since American Idol debuted in 2000. We do too. Sure, there are some great contemporary performers but many agree that the country music of yesteryear featuring great first names such as Willie, Waylon, Johnny, Hank, Merle, Loretta, Patsy and George have faded into something that today seems to be a lot like rock and roll with cowboy hats on. But that’s just us talking out-loud.

However, we do get sentimental for the good ol’ days of “Old-School” country every now and then. We hope you miss it as much as we do. Although we enjoy Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Brad Paisley as much as anyone else, we remember the days when another sort of  Nashville sound carried the day.

Target Entertainment strives to keep the old honky tonk sound of ” livin’, lovin’, and leavin’ ” alive  in America. With our roll and stroll cowboys, guitars, fiddles and ranch wear we provide duo’s, trio’s  and full bands whose main focus is the  Sons of Pioneers, Bob Wills, Lefty Frizzell, Kitty Wells and all the great heart-of-America story-in-song from Texas to Tennessee. Each generation has it’s own country hero’s and we love all those tunes from Bob Wills’  “San Antonio Rose” to  Emmy Lou Harris and Gram Parsons beautiful harmony duet on “Hickory Wind”.  Remember how much fun Buck Owens was? Or how about some of the rockabilly influenced Ray Charles or even the talking ‘trucker’ tunes like “Give Me 40 Acres and I’ll Turn This Rig Around”?

Target Entertainment has several groups available that feature great singing,  big-note guitar playing, beautiful pedal steel and sweet fiddle playing against the firm two-step beat of drums and bass. Rock and Roll may be here to stay but, that old-school country never went away!
